On Tuesday, April 12, you’re invited to an #EqualPayDay Twitter storm, marking the day this year when women’s pay catches up to what men were paid last year alone.

What: Twitter storm and photo project marking the day. Participants can share photos of themselves holding AWE’s #UnequalPaycheck, the National Law Center’s equality sign, and/or 9to5’s equal pay sign.

When: Tuesday, April 12 from 2-3 pm EDT

Where: Twitter, using the primary hashtags #EqualPayDay and #UnequalPaycheck, and secondary hashtag #EqualPay. Photos can be taken anywhere!

Why: More than 50 years after the passage of the Equal Pay Act, women overall still typically make only 79¢ to a man’s dollar. The wage gap is even larger for many women of color, as African American women are paid only 60¢ and Latinas are paid only 55¢ for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men. This Equal Pay Day, we’re holding lawmakers and candidates accountable and making sure they know we care about this issue.
